If I understand the story correctly, then it would seem as if you did no damage at all.  While it's not good to drop the hammer down onto the frame when the slide it off, I believe there should be no damage, and the missing blueing is just a trivial matter on the hammer.

I have heard of a case where the frame got a crack at the point of impact (where the hammer struck), but I'm not sure if that was true, as I saw no pictures or evidence.  Perhaps after prolonged hammer impacts, but just once will most likely do nothing.

Springfield frames are recognized for their quality and are often used for custom builds.  Unless you see a crack (which I'm sure there's not), your gun is just fine.

p.s. Thanks for joining.  I'm sorry I don't have time to get on here very often, but I'll try to stop by as often as I can.

thank you for your response, im very new to 1911's i imagine they are pretty durable but like i said its pretty new (1200 rounds through it) and i just love it and its my primary carry, so naturally i feel i like i just dropped my newborn on his head and now im calling the proverbial hospital. i have closely insepected the frame with a maglight and magnifying glass and i am 99.99% sure there's no crack in the frame so im relieved but still upset with my carelessness. again thank you for your insight and i would also like to say your youtube videos are of superb quality and i would have been lost with out them again thank you your a gentleman and a scholar!
